A 2010 evaluation by the University of Washington of the Bead for Life Vocational Training program in Kampala, Uganda identified participation in camps using the Creative Community Model as a major factor in improving student’s self esteem. This new confidence was a major factor in finding employment.
Early results of our work in Eastern Cape South Africa suggest similar successful employment outcomes for the young adult youth workers. Half of the program leaders we trained found paid employment with youth-serving organizations in the region within a year.
We have observed similar patterns in all of the other regions where we work. Individuals trained in our methodology are promoted within their organizations, find paid employment with their facilitation skills and gain recognition as exceptional program leaders.
We are currently working with MEM Associates in Seattle, Washington to do a longitudinal evaluation of our adult training programs.
