He is a community organizer and educator on issues related to HIV/AIDS, rehabilitation of street youth, and advocacy for marginalized children, and he serves as Interim Coordinator of the Creative Facilitation Team.
Derrick has previously worked as a translator, HIV/AIDS counselor and outreach worker with Dr. John Chittick’s Teen AIDS Peer Corps, as Director of Uganda AIDS Peer Corps, and as Senior Field Officer with the Uganda Women and Youth Intermediary Development Organization (UWAYDO). He began PYE Global facilitation training in 2007, has received training in camp leadership from Hole in the Wall, and has worked as a facilitator and staff member at youth camps with both organizations. He studied computer science at Makarere University and has special skills in sports education, counseling, drama, and theatre improvisation.
“I have a keen interest in health improvement, self discovery, and personal achievement, and my vision is to see the Creative Facilitation Team empower youth to be leaders in communities throughout Uganda.”
